General Chair's Welcome

Welcome to IEEE CCNC2020 in Las Vegas!

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Las Vegas and the 2020 IEEE Consumer Communications and Networking Conference (CCNC) held in conjunction with the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the world's largest tradeshow on consumer technology. CCNC is a major annual international conference organized with the objective of bringing together researchers, developers, and practitioners from academia and industry working in all areas of consumer communications and networking.

IEEE CCNC2020 includes a peer-reviewed program of technical sessions, workshops, industrial panels, tutorials, demonstration sessions as well as keynotes from leading figures in industry and academia. This year Michael Peeters, Director of Connectivity at IMEC, Mauro Bold, Senior Technical Manager at Telecom Italia Mobile (TIM), and Ellen W. Zegura, Fleming Professor in Computer Science at Georgia Tech will provide keynotes on the future of consumer communication as well as public interest technology research and education.

Claudio Casetti, TPC Chair, and Kaushik Chowdury, Vice TPC Chair, have lined up an excellent technical program. I would like to thank them and the Technical Program Committee members for all their hard work to field an excellent set of technical papers. I would also like to thank the Organizing Committee responsible for arranging workshops, demonstrations, posters, panels, keynotes, tutorials, patronage, awards, etc. A special thanks also goes to the CCNC Steering Committee (in particular to Alex Gelman and Alan Kaplan) for their continuous support and guidance, and to Melissa Torres, Senior Conference Planner for IEEE ComSoc, for her never-ending assistance during this long process. CCNC2020 would not be possible without the efforts of these dedicated people.

Finally, we are very grateful to our patrons 5G-EVE (Silver Patron) and imec (Silver Patron) who generously contributed to the success of this conference.

I hope that the participants hear about up-to-date issues and challenges in the consumer communications and networking area and find the conference useful in their research. Once again, I hope you enjoy the conference and hope there are ample opportunities to interact and share ideas in Las Vegas.
